This site was planted in November 2007 as part of the BBC breathing places Tree Party in Plymouth and over 1200 people came out for the tree party to help with planting, acorn sowing, bat box building and many other conservation activities. The site links with existing native woodland in the park and is a vital green lung for the city of Plymouth.
Moor Trees designed and oversaw the planting of over 500 trees of which 250 came from our nurseries. The charity teamed up with Plymouth City Council, BTCV, BiTC, Natural England and Devon Wildlife Trust to make the day a real success and get people from Plymouth engaged in the 'do one thing' project, the BBC's Autumnwatch central theme.
Wildlife World, the Eden Project and Perrie Hale Forest Nursery also donated trees and materials to the day.
The site is enjoyed by many daily visitors - unfortunately some are not so respectful of the planting as others. The Plymouth BTCV group have been gathering local volunteers to become tree wardens for the site to monitor the planting and it's security.
